Besides its magnificent dunes, this place is home of the camel thorn trees. These trees have twisted, dark trunks and no leaves, for which the grove received the name of “tree graveyard”. Every year, during the period of Lent and Holy Week, people produce carpets out of dyed sawdust in the streets and men in purple tunics carry floats with religious images in a procession throughout the town.
