Taming the frizz!

Taming the frizz

For curly and thick-haired girls alike, fighting frizz can be a constant battle, but the biggest challenge that faces us all when it comes to battling that unwanted afro is the summer season. A combination of chlorine, prolonged exposure to the sun, and salt water from taking a dip in the sea can dry out anyone’s hair, so this is the time of year when we have to take particular care of our locks if we want to keep it silky, shiny, and most importantly, frizz free.

When it comes down to it, there are two different types of products that are great for keeping your hair healthy: Oils and Serums. So what’s the difference between the two? In a nutshell, Serums are more commonly used when styling as they contain silicone which helps to coat the hair, making it shinier, smoother, and more manageable. Oils, on the other hand, concentrate more on the actual health of the hair and are absorbed helping to keep your locks healthy and nourished.

So which do we use? Ideally both – an oil to keep your hair in tip-top condition all year around which will help keep it nourished and less likely to become dry and frizzy, and a serum to add shine, definition and to combat the frizz which will keep your style looking fresher for longer. I know it can be a tad complicated, but if you just remember that oils are for haircare and serums are for styling then you should be able to fight off the frizz all summer long!
