How To Organise A Life-Changing Road-Trip

Summer is almost among us and that means it is vacation time. Road trips are so much fun to go on and can be less expensive than the average holiday. There are many ways to make it meaningful and fun at the same time. You can do it solo or with a group of friends, but it will be exciting and life-changing at the same time.

Ask yourself the right questions

Decide if it is going to be a solo or group trip. Most life-changing trips happen when travelling on your own.  This is because you can explore the locations you wish to visit.  If you cannot afford to backpack around Europe, you can always drive to a few destinations as well. If you decide to go with a group, make sure it is people you can trust and get along with. Road trips mean packed cars and hotel rooms so decide wisely.

Do your research

Whether it is a solo or group trip, plan ahead enough in advance and make sure everyone is on the same page. If you are going to multiple destinations that means flights, hotel rooms, campgrounds, or hostels so make sure you book in advance. For flights, apps such as Hopper and Kayak can help you find the cheapest flights.

Look into where you are going

Research the areas you are going to, so you stay in safe, smart locations. For example, Airbnb’s are the new craze when traveling so look at the ratings and location of where it is. Send questions to the host if you are interested in the apartment. Also look into unexpected websites, books, and online platforms. Many hidden gems to visit or eat at are found through word of mouth or blogs.

Pack Wisely

Yes, you may want to buy brand new clothes, shoes, and accessories for your road trip, but is it realistic to do that? Do you need a new jacket if you are going to a beach? Look at the weather for your locations and plan accordingly. Remember, you can always buy a sweater from a local shop if you need it.

Unwind

Step four is the most important, remember to unplug. Taking photos and videos of your road trip are great to have as memories but take the time to put your phone down. If you are traveling internationally, turn off your roaming so your data charges will not be outrageous. A road trip is a time to reflect and have fun and you cannot do that if looking at your phone the whole time. You planned this trip for a reason so why not enjoy it to the fullest?
