Revamping yourself in 2014

The ball has dropped in Time Square and toasts have been made in honor of the New year. Let all of us at Scriptoeris be the first to say welcome to 2014! I have been blessed to be a part of the Scriptoeris team for 6 months now. With the start of the new year, I feel it is important to reflect on the past, as well as look forward to the bright future ahead for all of us. Rather than focusing this article on New Year’s Resolutions that often are broken in February after the hype dies down, I’d like to share the lessons I learned last year in order to prepare me for growth and prosperity of 2014. I hope you will take these lessons with you as you approach the start of this new year.

It is never too late to make a change for the better. You don’t even have to wait until the start of a new month or year. I challenge you to make a list of the areas in life you want to grow in. For me, it’s eliminating distractions and balancing professional and personal life. Prioritize each area of improvement and start today. Watch your friendships and relationships blossom as you focus on becoming the best you that you can be. Any day is a good day for a step in the right direction.

You write your own destiny. This is true not only in the beginning of a new year, but all throughout your life. Success starts and ends with your ability to see an opportunity and seize it. Take a leap of faith in 2014. I ended 2013 with the launch of my dream – uPRise PR (http://www.uprisepr.com). It started as an idea to launch me forward in the field of Public Relations as I inch closer and closer to graduation, but it has now taken on a life of its own. I urge you to take a chance this year. I did and couldn’t be any happier. Remember that you should never take a supporting role in your own life. You are the lead, so take the lead this year. Amazing things will follow.

Be a part of something exciting. Have you recently found a cause you believe in? There are so many organizations making a difference in the world. Devoting your time to a cause you support to raise awareness will add meaning to your life. Have the courage to reach out to various interest groups and get involved. You are sure to make several personal connections and gain a new perspective on life. Become a part of a bigger story today. It will breathe new life into your own story.
