This is the year to make the most of the now. We’re back from the Christmas holidays and the Christmas glitter has settled like dust in your Grandma’s front room.
You might even say that we’ve settled back into the rhythm of things. But is that really a pattern we want to set for the year? Of course not. If we’re going to make the most of every single day, then we’d better start surprising ourselves and shake things up to put our stamp on 2015. And here’s how…
Do the unexpected.
How many times do we immediately discount the ideas of that one crazy friend to hitchhike to Paris, to do a charity run in our pyjamas or do a skydive for a hen do? Whether it is pushing for a discount when you wouldn’t there use have done so or being determined to go to a gym class or the cinema on your own, surprise yourself. That way, it will not be so daunting when it comes down to working outside of your comfort zone in the real world of work and study.
Splash some cash
Whether you’ve done an extra shift at your Saturday job or it’s payday at the end of the month, don’t be too stingy on yourself. Enjoy being frivolous once in a while; it will remind you of how hard you have worked.
Touch base.
Out with the old? You cannot leave everything behind. Give an old friend a call, even if you haven’t spoken for years. Enjoy giggling at how stupid you were to both fancy someone you never actually spoke to in school. It’ll remind that friend of how important they were to you. You don’t have to commit to seeing them every weekend, just reflect in people who have made you who you are today.
Be carefree.
Keep your feet firmly on solid ground by taking yourself away from the world of vanity, technology and modernity. Every once in a while, leave your phone at home, do an activity that costs nothing and don’t worry about what you look like doing it. Life is too short to worry about what everyone else thinks of your every move. Time away from it all can help you focus on the important things in life… You. Take the pressure off, even just for a two minute ride on the swings in the playground!
