Hand luggage beauty.

Travelling Light

For us here atScriptoeris, summer is the perfect time to escape the temperamental British weather and to indulge in as many mini-breaks as possible. The only problem with our perfect little plan? Hand luggage only. We all know how cheaper airlines like to charge ridiculous amounts for checking in bags, but we prefer to keep that money in our pockets for ridiculous souvenirs and so we can sip on over-priced wine at our destination. So, we are going to show you how to pack all of your beauty essentials into your hand luggage without the fear of the lovely people at security breathing down your neck. Without further ado, here are some of our favourite tips for travelling light:

Samples/Minis: Remember that cute little mascara you got with last month’s Cosmo or that perfume sample you were given whilst browsing the counters of your favourite department store? This is the perfect time to collect all of those samples that you’ve received in the past and put them to good use. Not only do they save space, but they also take up less of your liquid allowance – score!

Multitaskers: Knowing how to use one of your favourite products in more than one way is essential to packing light. Got a favourite lipstick? Smear a bit on your cheeks for an instant cream blush. Love a bit of eyeshadow variety? Pack a palette that’ll allow you to create versatile looks without a million single eyeshadows taking up space. Multitasking is easy, you’ve just got to know what you’re working with!

Pick wisely: We’ve already talked about taking samples with you to reduce space, but you can go even further by picking your full-sized products carefully. Choose your least bulky items to save you space and weight (less weight = more room for souvenirs!) So only take the essentials: one lipstick instead of two, your slimmest powder compact, and perhaps leave those fake lashes at home?

Liquids vs. Powders: We all know that summer is all about that glowing complexion, but due to the good ol’ 100ml cap on liquids when flying, sometimes hard choices need to be made. Stick to only the essentials: foundation and concealer (along with skincare) and try to limit your liquids elsewhere. Also, make sure to research what actually classifies as a liquid (hint: lipsticks and mascaras don’t!) so that you can pack wisely.

Hopefully these quick and easy tips will help you when packing for your next mini-break away and make the whole situation a little less stressful. Do you have any helpful packing tips? Be sure to leave us a comment below letting us know!!
