Hey, Upper East Siders, Scriptoeris here. And I have the biggest news. Gossip Girl, premiered 10 years ago today. To celebrate, we have the most iconic moments throughout the hit TV show that had us swooning over Chuck, cussing Dan’s hair and cheering Blair on.
Blair Waldorf isn’t the only one wearing Vera Wang on her big day. As maid of honour, BFF Serena Van der Woodsen wore a cream organza and metallic tulle gown with a corset bodice from the designer’s spring 2011 collection. Meanwhile, Blair’s three bridesmaids are outfitted in voluminous blush-hued Vera Wang for David’s Bridal dresses, which could be bought for $198 (£146) at davidsbridal.com.
Blair and Chuck married in Central Park with the bride dressed in a light blue lace Elie Saab gown from the designer’s spring 2012 couture collection. Gossip Girl’s costume designer Eric Daman says: “When I saw the Elie Saab dress finally chosen for Blair’s wedding to Chuck, it was absolutely perfect for her”.
Undoubtedly, Sage Spence was used as a tool to highlight how far the original Gossip Girl characters had come. With her fedoras and tweed, this brunette beauty stood out to us, and not only because she managed to bag the gorgeous Nate Archibald.
When emotionally reeling from the cancellation of the O.C, it was Blair Waldorf’s minions that filled our void. Instead of tracking down our own Seth Cohen, it was 2007 when the world starting hunting down those coloured tights.
There is no denying that this Oscar de la Renta dress is stunning. With all of the different reds, oranges and corals, the ruffles are accentuated and add depth to the skirt. Teamed with a red lip, gorgeous swept back hair and bright pink clutch, the dress is a jaw dropper.
For Gossip Girl’s 100th episode, the show pulled together a musical sequence. Executive producer Josh Safran said: “It is crazy. I wrote it, and it’s something I’ve wanted to do since Season 1. I’m very proud of that moment, and when you see it, you’ll know why. It’s something we’ve never done before. From Season 1, I said, I want to do this. But it just wasn’t the right time. I’ve been pushing it for five years, and it finally happened.”
This is the 27,8964 time we wanted to raid Serena Van der Woodsen’s wardrobe. This beautiful Ralph Lauren dress was chosen to bring together conservatism and Serena’s sexy edge.
This is an iconic outfit, but as a miss. Sorry Chuck, this one didn’t do you any favours.
From the second season onwards, Chuck pioneered this look; we started to see a lot more men in bow ties and cravats. “Every time we dressed Chuck, I thought it was important that his and Blair’s tones and patterns matched, or their colours coordinate to match the story of their evolution together” said Eric Daman.
A lot has changed since 2007. But Gossip Girl? Well, that will never goes out of style.
XOXO.
