7 reasons to be happy on Blue Monday

PC: Song of Style

Blue Monday- apparently the most depressing day of the year is here. But before you turn to Ryan Gosling and the tissues, it might not even be real. Today, like yesterday has the potential to be one of the cheeriest days of the year. The problem is with everyone telling you it is the most depressing day of the year, combined with the gloomy weather you are bound to feel down. When you start taking the day for what it is called you will naturally start thinking about the negative things in your life.

Newsflash: That doesn’t need to be the case.

Asos still has 70% off

Their banner might be taken over by ‘20% off for students’ but that doesn’t mean their sale isn’t still happening. From your summer wardrobe to lingerie for Valentine’s you can still grab a bargain.

Friends is on Netflix

Blue Monday, what an excuse to stay in cocooned under blankets on the sofa. To make it better though, our favourite American series is now on Netflix. It will always be there for you.

It is awards season

Doesn’t everyone like to gawk at celebrities and what they are wearing? Especially when they come with political statements. If the Golden Globes were anything to go by, we are in for a treat this season.

12 days until payday

12 working days left until payday. Start planning what you will be buying this Blue Monday, or at least start making a list of the best sale prices available.

Your weekends are your own again

No more to-do lists, shopping, decorating, wrapping, present-delivering or partying. Fellow hermits, rejoice. You can dust off those books you never quite got a chance to finish or pick up where you left off with those box sets you are only half way through. Check out Emma Watson’s feminist book club here.

Cool winter bars are back

Hot Gin Roof is just one of them. Back again for another winter, Sipsmith Gin will be the star of the show at this cocktail pop-up on the Ham Yard hotel roof. Cocktails will be warmed up using a red hot poker, so there will be no reason for you to feel cold this month.

It is Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday

Whether you think the world has moved forwards or backwards since King’s day, celebrating everything he achieved should at least fill you with hope for the future. Blue Monday can back right off.
