Remember that usually we are dressing to please ourselves, and we develop our own fashion sense influenced by favourite current trends as well as how much we can afford. For Valentines Day, on the 14th February, there is a chance to shake off wintery dull clothes (which are more often than not thick and ill-fitting) for something a little more special and eye-catching. Now is a time to be daring in what we wear; either at work or out in the evening with friends. How daring, in many ways, depends on who we are trying to impress? Below, are 3 outfit ideas I would suggest.
1. During the day black outfits, supported by other striking bold colors, can make a statement and can provide a visual impact to our usual pallet of dreary colors. For those with legs to show off, short skirts and black high-heeled boots (either ankle or knee-high depending on individual preference) can impress that special person. February, renown for its chilly winds and frosty days, facilitates the wearing of faux fur, either as coats, wraps, or adorning jackets. Jumpers and tops, with cashmere or trimmed with velvet, make us feel luxurious and add an exuberant feel to our winter wardrobe.
2. For later in the day, wearing a slinky, figure-hugging statement dress (preferably black or red), together with ostentatious chunky jewelry, and the best designer high-heeled shoes you can afford, will only help you dazzle in front of potential partners. Alternatively, black straight-leg tailored trousers, with short high-heeled boots, to offset either an embellished sparkling theatrical blouse or lace crop-top should fit the purpose of a dinner date.
3. For those who would prefer a night in with girlfriends, they too, must make the effort and not rely on their comfy onesies! An easy slip-on tunic with pattered woolen tights, or pretty full-length silk pajamas with mules will be just the wear to impress one another. A large over-the-shoulder classy slim-line overnight bag, with the essentials with the following day, is a necessity to prevent those last minute panics in case there is no end to the Valentine evening!
