If you have been to one of my talks or speeches, you’ll know that my morning routine is sacred. I have a very strong morning routine which boosts my energy and reduces my stress levels. It is critical to implement a strong routine to keep your spirits up and there is no better to time to start than today. Since so many of you have asked for it I thought I’d share.
Wake up early
I wake up at 6.30 every morning. After reading the book The 5am Club I have tried earlier but it isn’t for me. I will stay in bed for longer at the weekends but on the whole, I love being an early bird. It’s time I am able to dedicate to my wellbeing and happiness and I urge you to do the same.
Pour something yummy
I cannot wake up properly without having a hot drink. On weekdays I will opt for a hot water with lemon but at the weekend, I have my standard British cup of tea. I have been drinking hot water and lemon for years. I have seen a difference in my skin and overall complexion, not to mention my energy levels too.
20-20-20
My 20-20-20 way of life is now pretty famous, at least I’m known for it (haha). I started my business at 19-years-old and knew that rolling out of bed wouldn’t serve anyone, I knew in my heart I couldn’t just wake up, have a coffee and be a CEO, I needed a lifestyle change. As much as I would like to be an exercise bunny in the morning, I’m just not. No matter how determined or focused I am, I prefer an evening workout. So the first thing I do when waiting for my lemon and water to cool is stretch. I change it up and will do 20 minutes of either yoga or pilates, I don’t push myself but I like to wake my body up. Similar to most women, I have struggled to accept my body and love it unconditionally, throughout the 20 mins I talk to myself kindly and focus on how powerful my body is, rather than what it looks like.
20 mins of reflection
I have always been the type of woman who focuses on the next thing. Very rarely did I look back and reflect on my accomplishments, so much so I was nicknamed in the office as “the blur”, because I was always running from one thing to the next. New Year’s Eve 2018 I wrote out my accomplishments from that year and quickly noticed that I didn’t celebrate or really appreciate any of them because my mind was elsewhere. Now, every morning I spend 20 minutes writing a gratitude list. I get very specific so I can fully embrace all of my blessings. Most of the time, entrepreneurs write gratitude lists in the evening, personally, I love to have mine close as the day goes on.
20 mins of goal-setting
Being honest, I spend the last 20 mins before I go to bed carrying out this activity again. I’m not just a goal-getter but goal-setter, every morning and evening I write down all of my goals. You know me triber, not only do I focus on my daily goals but my huge audacious dreams. Sometimes I draw or scribble or just bullet-point, the point is I take time out every morning to remind myself of my purpose and where I am heading.
I sincerely hope you enjoyed reading through my morning routine, let me know in the comments below what your routine looks like.
